While not everyone can live near Disney World or Universal Studios, most states can boast an amusement park or two at the very least. I’m not just talking about big franchises like Six Flags or Cedar Fair; you’ll often find other smaller amusement parks with their own unique local charm, pairing roller coasters and thrill rides with an quirky, familiar experience you can’t really replicate anywhere else.

With its arid, hot climate, Arizona isn’t an ideal place to build a theme park, and while there are a few small amusement parks around the state, there’s only one that really measures up in the thrill ride department: Castles N’ Coasters, originally built in 1976.
