A Glendale, Arizona man was arrested after he allegedly tried to kidnap an elementary school girl Friday.

The suspect, 37-year-old Joseph Ruiz, allegedly tried to grab the 5th-grade girl as she was walking to school, a video taken by a neighbor’s security camera and obtained by police shows. Upon review of the video, Ruiz was taken into custody and is facing kidnapping and custodial interference felony charges.

The incident occurred in a neighborhood near north 43rd Avenue and West Peoria Avenue in Glendale.

“Oh my god. It gave me goosebumps,” Nayelia Martinez, the neighbor whose security camera caught the incident, told local news outlet Arizona’s Family . Martinez’s 11-year-old son, Nico, attends school with the victim.

In the video, a silver sedan is seen waiting for a young girl to walk by before Ruiz reportedly got out of the car and tried to grab her. However, the girl ran off. After she ran away, neighbors say three students surrounded her, trying to hide her.
