Man sentenced to 33 years for murdering Phoenix mother, dumping body in desert

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – The man convicted of murdering a Phoenix mother of six was sentenced to 33 years with credit for time served early Friday. A Maricopa County judge sentenced Jorge Lara to 25 years for the murder of Irene Luevano and another eight years for her kidnapping. He has already served more than two years behind bars and accepted a plea deal in October that limited his prison time. As part of the deal, he will also eventually be eligible for parole.
