Valley Metro to host town halls on new fare system launching this summer

Valley Metro will hold a series of town halls to explain its new upcoming fare system launching later this summer, the agency announced on Monday.

“The town halls will share changes in the fare system, including how riders will be able to purchase fares using the Valley Metro app or a reloadable Copper card,” spokesperson Renata Cló said in a statement. “Riders will also learn about Smart Fare , a new account-based, pay-as-you-go system.”

Valley Metro is the regional public transportation agency that provides transit services, such as bus, streetcar and light rail, to the residents of the Phoenix metro, according to its website.

Cló said attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions after the presentation.

The list of town hall locations can be found at valleymetro.org/faretownhalls and includes venues such as the Mesa Main Library, Chandler Downtown Library and the Glendale GESD System of Care Center.

Valley Metro will also host a virtual town hall, which people can register for at the same web page.
