Who was arrested in ASU’s pro-Palestine protest? How many were students?

Arizona State University Police said they arrested more than 70 protesters last weekend after more than 200 people gathered on campus to call for a cease-fire in Gaza.

The protest was one of multiple ones across the state in what has been a growing movement calling for university officials to divest from Israel. ASU officials said only a portion of the protesters from the weekend were students at the university, saying 15 of those arrested were ASU students.

After protesters were told to vacate Alumni Lawn multiple times, campus police began arrests early Saturday alongside Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
