One of three missing Mesa teenagers found safe in Phoenix

A missing Mesa teenager was found in Phoenix Tuesday after she disappeared from a group home on Aug. 25, according to the Mesa Police Department.

Cruz Jasso, 17, left her group home near Higley Road and Southern Avenue, accompanied by two other girls, Arisay Robles Ruiz, 17, and Zalila Fredricks, 16, Mesa police said.

On Tuesday around 8 p.m., authorities received a call from someone who claimed to be Jasso, said Sgt. Rob Scherer, a Phoenix police spokesperson.

Phoenix officers responded to the call near 19th Avenue and Roosevelt Street and confirmed the caller was indeed Jasso. They contacted the Arizona Department of Child Safety to assist her.

There were no updates Wednesday on the location of the two girls who disappeared alongside Jasso, said Det. Brandi Myers, a spokesperson for the Mesa Police Department.

Ruiz was described as a white female, about 4 feet, 9 inches, and 110 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black top and jeans.

Fredricks was described as a Black female, about 5 feet, 3 inches tall, and 127 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink jumpsuit.
