Neighbors heard yelling, ‘popping’ sounds. Mesa man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter

Mesa police arrested a 51-year-old man after officers found a gunshot victim dead near Brown and Greenfield roads on Sunday night, Mesa police spokesperson Det. Brandi Myers said.

Jason Greene faces manslaughter charges in connection with the death of an unidentified man who was shot in Greene’s home at around 8 p.m. on Sunday, Myers said.

Officers were responding to several callers who said they heard yelling and “popping” sounds in a neighboring home.

The victim was not identified because his family has not yet been notified of his death, according to Myers.

Police are continuing their investigation, but they do not believe that there are any other suspects in the case, the police spokesperson said.
