Red Raiders, RB Tahj Brooks Make History vs. Sun Devils

The Arizona State Sun Devils kicked off their Big 12 existence in Lubbock on Saturday in their first-ever matchup in the newly expanded conference. The Texas Tech Red Raiders spoiled their party to the tune of a 30-22 win at home.

But along the way history was made. Twice.

Red Raiders running back Tahj Brooks needed just 98 rushing yards to take over fifth place on the Red Raiders’ all-time rushing yards list – he got 117. Deandre Washington previously held the position with 3,411 yards from 2011 to 2015.

The new top six rushers in Tech history:

1. Byron Hanspard – 4,135 yards – 1994-1996
2. James Gray – 4,066 yards – 1986-1989
3. Ricky Williams – 3,656 yards – 1997-2001
4. Bam Morris – 3,545 yards – 1991-1993
5. Tahj Brooks – 3,431 yards – 2020-current
6. Deandre Washington – 3,411 yards – 2011-2015

Along with Brooks, the Red Raiders program also made history on Saturday. The 30-22 victory pushed their season record to 3-1, but it also marked the 600th overall win in program history.
