All-New Chicago-Style Fried Chicken and Shrimp Restaurant Now Open

If you’re a lover of home-cooked fried chicken and maybe a bit of deep-fried shrimp, you know there’s just nothing like going to someone’s house when they have a batter recipe passed down from generations. There’s a secret spice blend inside of the batter that brings the chicken to life. It takes ordinary chicken and turns it into a meal you can’t stop eating. While there are plenty of fried chicken restaurants around greater Phoenix, one of the newest entries brings that home-cooked, seasoned batter recipe to the table and wants to offer you something with a bold flavor not found at most chain chicken shops.

George’s Chicken and Shrimp made its grand opening at 1342 West Warner in Tempe to a packed house at the end of September. Originally from Chicago, George’s Chicken and Shrimp has brought all of soul food you could ever want. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for salty or savory, there’s something on the menu for you.

The menu is straightforward, and yet decisions can take time. Do you order the eight-piece or the 16-piece? Should you go with the legs or the wings? How much will your significant other eat? So many decisions. But when you check out the menu, you can order a la carte chicken, gizzards (with fries and coleslaw), or go with a wings and shrimp combo. If you enjoy your fried chicken with waffles, lunch specials running from 11 AM until 3 PM let you pair your fried chicken with hot off the griddle waffles.
