Arizona Weather Update: Mild Conditions to Give Way to Showers in Phoenix

The National Weather Service in Phoenix reports that dry and quiet weather will persist through the start of the weekend, with temperatures hovering near or slightly below normal. Currently, mostly clear skies are observed, with afternoon temperatures 2-5 degrees warmer than yesterday, reaching the upper 70s to low 80s across the lower deserts.

However, a weather system is set to arrive late Saturday into early Sunday, bringing below-normal temperatures and a chance of showers. While initial forecasts suggested higher rainfall potential, recent updates indicate a drier trend, with expected precipitation amounts now below 0.10 inches in the lower deserts and up to 0.25-0.50 inches in higher terrain areas. Following this system, temperatures are projected to fall into the low to mid-70s, with morning lows dropping into the 40s for lower desert areas and the 30s in cooler spots like Globe and San Carlos. An increase in winds is also anticipated in parts of southeast California and the Lower Colorado River Valley. As the week progresses, uncertainty remains regarding potential additional weather systems moving into the region.
