Election terrorism in Ahwatukee ends in two arrests

Rising emotions over the presidential campaign put Ahwatukee in the spotlight as Tempe Police made two arrests connected to alleged terrorist acts and threats. By far the more serious of the two cases involved the department’s arrest Oct. 22 of Jeffrey Michael Kelly, 60, of Ahwatukee, on multiple charges involving shooting up the Democratic National Committee’s field office in Tempe on three occasions within a month’s time and a bizarre combination of inflammatory signs and fake biohazard warnings that shut down part of a main drag in Ahwatukee.
