Mexican taproom closes in downtown Chandler

Buqui Bichi Brewery, a Mexican craft brewer based in Hermosillo, Sonora, has closed its first U.S. taproom, which was located along the southern edge of downtown Chandler, after about 16 months in business.

It vacated a spot in a mini-strip mall on the southeast corner of Arizona Avenue and Frye Road, next to another recently opened-then-closed business, Roll ‘Em Up Taquitos.

Buqui Bichi’s bar food and aguachiles were accompanied more than a dozen beers on tap, including its own brand.

No reason was given for the closure, but a lien notice and a ‘‘space available’’ sign were seen on the front door.

Buqui Bichi opened a second U.S. location in downtown Phoenix, which is still open.
