Passenger Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run at Mesa Food City Parking Lot

Mesa, Arizona – According to Mesa Fire & Rescue, a hit-and-run accident at the Food City parking lot, located at 450 E. Southern Avenue, left a female passenger critically injured on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:30 PM, prompting an emergency response from Mesa Fire & Rescue and the Mesa Police Department.

According to reports, a vehicle was struck by another car that fled the scene. The impact left the female passenger trapped inside the damaged vehicle. Emergency crews from Mesa Fire & Rescue arrived swiftly and removed the passenger door to extricate her safely. The vehicle’s airbags were deployed during the crash, indicating the severity of the collision.

The injured passenger was transported to a nearby hospital with critical but unspecified injuries. The Mesa Police Department is investigating the hit-and-run, seeking to identify and locate the driver who left the scene.

Following the removal of the injured passenger, a tow truck arrived to clear the damaged vehicle from the parking lot. All emergency units have since returned to service.
