Mesa House Fire Sends Plumes of Smoke Skyward, Cat Rescued, No Injuries Reported

Mesa, AZ – According to the Rural Metro Fire Department, a dramatic house fire near Higley Rd. and Decatur in Mesa drew a massive response from local emergency crews on Tuesday. At approximately 4:31 PM, Rural Metro Fire Department was dispatched to the scene after reports of thick black smoke, which could be seen billowing into the sky from miles away.

According to Rural Metro Fire, the blaze originated in the attic and quickly spread, forcing nearby residents to evacuate in fear of it spreading further. Among those affected was an elderly homeowner who stood outside, watching helplessly as his home was consumed by flames.

Firefighters from Rural Metro Fire Rescue, Mesa Fire Department, and other responding agencies worked tirelessly to contain the fire. Additional support came from Mesa Police, AMR Ambulance, SRP (Salt River Project), and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Amid the tense situation, a cat was rescued from the burning home. Carried away by AMR crews, the scared feline meowed loudly but appeared unharmed.
