The Higley Transition & Access Program is a comprehensive, one-year program designed for qualified students in special education within the Higley Unified School District who are seeking to gain valuable skills for independent employment.
A key highlight of HTAP is its emphasis on volunteering at diverse job sites, offering students invaluable real-world exposure to various career settings.
Since the 2020-2021 school year, HTAP students have partnered with Aimee’s Farm Animal Sanctuary, an organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing farm animals in need while fostering a healing environment for differently abled individuals. This partnership, established during the early stages of HTAP’s growth, has become an integral part of the program.
“Aimee was really open to having us come out here,” HTAP teacher Brittany Yanov said. “Every other Monday, HTAP students dedicate their time and talents to meaningful activities at the sanctuary.. She loves working with people with disabilities and has a special heart for animals with disabilities as well.”
