DOGE cuts leases for several National Park Service offices in Arizona

FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — Arizona’s national monuments attract millions of visitors annually. However, some offices that oversee national monuments across the state are closing because of federal cuts, raising concerns about visitor experience and safety.

The Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, has been on a mission to slash federal spending, including on national parks and monuments.

According to the agency’s website, about two dozen leases for federal buildings in Arizona are being terminated. The Flagstaff Area National Monuments building at 6400 U.S. 89 is one of two in Coconino County being closed. It manages Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater, and Wupatki National Monument.
