Dust, Dry Cool air, and Very Strong Winds Set to Dominate Arizona this Weekend

According to the Arizona Weatherman, this weekend, Friday to Sunday, 25- 27 April 2025, will be windy for Arizona, with increased wildfire conditions and low visibility on the roads due to blowing dust. However, the upper-level low and troughing moving through the state will also bring cooler temperatures but no rain.

On Friday, an upper-level low and trough will be over California; then, through Saturday and Sunday, that trough will move over Arizona. On Sunday, there will be a strong jet max over northern Arizona with 140 mph winds. Obviously, this will not directly translate to the surface, but this setup will bring strong gusts to the surface through this weekend.
