Phoenix Nurse Killed in Wrong-Way Crash Involving Stolen Amazon Vehicle; Suspect Isaiah Sparks Charged

The Phoenix community is grappling with a recent tragedy as Elizabeth Ramos, a 54-year-old nurse and well-regarded matriarch, was killed in a horrific wrong-way crash on Wednesday. The fatal incident involved a stolen Amazon delivery vehicle operated by 27-year-old Isaiah Sparks, who is now facing a litany of charges. Ramos, remembered for her dedicated service to patients and her vital role within her family, was en route to work when Sparks, driving at nearly three times the speed limit, collided with her vehicle. In a statement acquired by Garrett Funeral Chapels, her family expressed immense grief, stating, “Our mother was taken from us in a senseless act of violence.”

Evidence gathered by the detectives, including CDR analysis from the airbag module, indicated that Sparks was traveling at 74 miles per hour in a 25 miles per hour zone seconds before the crash. The vehicle in question had been stolen from an Amazon driver earlier that day, bolstering the charges against him.

A subsequent GoFundMe page created to support Ramos’s family described her as the “heart” of her loved ones, and a vigil at the crash site saw the community coming together to honor her life. Sparks is considered a danger to public safety and a flight risk by the prosecution, leading to his bond being set at $250,000 cash only. He is reported to have stolen a second vehicle after the incident, which law enforcement retrieved using the abandoned phone of another Amazon delivery driver to track the location…
