Valley Metro’s credit card spending grew nearly 20% last year. The spending included purchases that broke policy, exceeded spending limits, and lacked pre-approval, a published audit shows.
The report reviewed 544 charges between July 2023 and June 2024, or about 21% of all transactions. One of those purchases was a $6,300 charge for cookies for front-line contractors, the January 2025 report claimed.
The charge violated the agency’s $5,000 limit for any single purchase, did not include an itemized receipt and failed to obtain CEO Jessica Mefford-Miller’s signature…
