How a Scottsdale restaurant became a staple in Arizona’s food scene

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Citizen Public House is the first restaurant opened by Andrew Fritz and Chef Bernie Kantak. The fan-favorite spot has stood the test of time, evolving into something bigger than just a restaurant, but also a trailblazer in Arizona’s food and beverage scene.

They take their fierce passion and love for hospitality and infuse it into every aspect. One thing people might not know or realize is that Fritz and Kantak are on-site at the restaurants every day. Whether they’re fixing a broken oven, putting out fires (literally or figuratively) or greeting, seating and serving guests, they instill a love for the hospitality industry in everyone they meet.

Chef Bernie is known for creating the Original Chopped Salad in the 90s, which attracted a cult following that swoons over it to this day. The salad is now the official state salad of Arizona.
