Bill signed by Arizona governor lists out rules for backyard homes

PHOENIX — Gov. Katie Hobbs signed legislation Friday regarding how Arizona’s counties can regulate backyard casitas, or accessory dwelling units.

House Bill 2928 outlines how counties can and cannot oversee the development of additional residential units on single-family home lots.

The bill is similar to legislation signed by Hobbs last year that restricted how cities can regulate ADUs, except HB2928 specifically applies to counties…
