Driver in deadly 2024 Peoria collision self-surrenders to police

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — The driver who crashed into a house in Peoria more than a year ago, killing two people, has been arrested and is facing multiple felonies.

Police say 21-year-old Douglas James Riecks, from Peoria, turned himself in to police on Tuesday afternoon. He was booked into jail on multiple charges, including manslaughter, aggravated assault and criminal damage.

According to police, on April 14, 2024, Riecks was under the influence and speeding when he ran a stop sign in a neighborhood near Vistancia Boulevard and Lone Mountain Parkway, crashed through a cinder block wall and into a house…
