PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An approaching weather system and tropical moisture from the south will bring the chance for rain and thunderstorms across the state.
Sunday into Monday, with continuing chances through the middle of the week for the high country. A few strong thunderstorms will be possible, which means we could get gusty winds, the possibility of small hail, and localized heavy rain. There is a Flood Watch in effect Sunday for southern Arizona, just outside of Casa Grande, including areas like Tucson, Ajo and Sierra Vista.
It has only rained one other time on June 1st in Phoenix, and that was back in 1914, when we got 0.02″ of rain. With this weather setup, models are hinting at a quarter to a half of an inch of rain possible for the lower deserts and a half to three-quarters of an inch possible in the mountains, with localized higher amounts possible if thunderstorms do develop.
