A Phoenix street artist’s debut sculpture is a fiery ode to the city: ‘It’s my horcrux’

The new South Central extension of Valley Metro light rail is about to open and riders will notice 18 pieces of artwork along the route, including one dramatic piece by a local artist that will light up the skyline at night.

Construction on this stretch of light rail began in 2019 and was expected to be finished in 2023. Now, the work is finally complete and a grand opening celebration takes place on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
