Tempe police officer dies at age 52

TEMPE, Ariz — The Tempe Police Department is mourning the recent death of an officer who served the community for over 20 years.

Officer Drew Nystrom died on May 31 at age 52. He was laid to rest on Friday. The police department said Nystrom had been diagnosed with cancer.

“Drew was a devoted public servant, who worked as a Field Training Officer in patrol and as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Bureau, specializing in document crimes,” the Tempe Police Department wrote in a statement…
