Downtown Mesa businesses prepared for drug overdoses

Kirstin Bradley has Narcan on hand when she’s at work as a barber-stylist in downtown Mesa – just in case.

Narcan, also known as naloxone, is a medication administered as a nasal spray or as an auto-injector that quickly restores the breathing of a person experiencing an opioid overdose.

“We have a pretty big homeless population in downtown Mesa with a lot of drug activity,” Bradley explained. “We started carrying it here just because we have that population that is kind of around on the street, sometimes close to us, and some unhoused that will sleep on the benches.”…
