UofA offers 3-year medical degree to tackle Arizona’s doctor shortage

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — With its new program, the University of Arizona is looking to fast-track students into becoming doctors, specifically primary physicians.

“It gets the student into training sooner,” said Dr. Fredric Wondisford, Dean of the UofA College of Medicine – Phoenix.

Instead of the more traditional four years, the Arizona Board of Regents approved a three-year pathway to medical degrees for both of UofA’s medical colleges in Tucson and Phoenix. Dr. Wondisford said this will help tackle the state’s doctor shortage…
