Phoenix Police Use Patrol Vehicle to Apprehend Armed Burglary Suspect at Gas Station

Phoenix Police Department’s response to a recent burglary has stirred attention after officers used a patrol vehicle to apprehend a suspect reportedly armed and at large. This incident, dating back to June 7, began with a report from a housekeeper who claimed her purse was stolen and that the suspect had brandished a firearm when confronted, as per FOX 10 Phoenix.

The subsequent police search concluded at a nearby gas station where the suspect, described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, in black clothing and hat, was identified carrying the stolen item. Upon attempting to detain the suspect, the confrontation escalated as he allegedly reached for his waistband, prompting an officer to strike him with the patrol car. “Moments later, officers say he reached for a gun and that’s when they stuck him with their patrol car,” as detailed by FOX 10 Phoenix.

Footage released by the Phoenix Police Department showed the critical moments before the officer, a six-year veteran of the Maryvale-Estrella Mountain Precinct, made the decision to employ the vehicle against the suspect.
