Eleven months after a Gilbert barn burned to the ground minutes after teenagers escaped, a police report obtained by The Arizona Republic sheds new light on how a group of boys who were present at the fire appeared to terrorize their classmates and a neighborhood for years.
Gilbert police knew about the allegations, the records reveal. The department’s investigative report documented a dozen other cases. It’s not known what all the cases entailed, but some involved sexual bullying, reckless driving and trespass. Detectives told residents some of these allegations were related to the same group of boys, with incidents dating to as early as 2022.
