Child dies after being pulled from public pool in Chandler during private event

A 4-year-old boy drowned during a private event hosted after-hours at a Chandler public pool on June 30, police said.

The Chandler Police Department responded to calls shortly after 8 p.m. of a child found underwater at the Hamilton Aquatic Center near Arizona Avenue and Ocotillo Road, according to Ryan Cody, police spokesperson.

Lifeguards pulled the boy from the pool and performed CPR until first responders arrived. The boy was taken to Chandler Regional Hospital, where he later died…
