Plane crash victims’ families want $243M from Mesa

Families of five people who died last year after a plane overshot a runway at Falcon Field Airport and collided with a car, erupting in a ball of flames, have filed wrongful death claims against the City of Mesa totaling $243.4 million.

The Nov. 5 aborted takeoff killed pilot Spencer Lindahl, 43, of Gilbert, and his passengers Rustin Randall, 48, of Gilbert, Drew Kimball, 44, of Chandler and his son, 12-year-old Grahm Kimball. Kimball Lindahl, then 18, survived the crash with injuries. Driver Raymond Longhi, 67, of Mesa, died from blunt-force injuries.
