Three men from Phoenix, Scottsdale and Mesa are facing charges along with more than 300 others throughout the country in what the U.S. Department of Justice said was a “national health care fraud takedown.” The indictment alleges the three defendants targeted elderly Medicare patients, many of whom were terminally ill in hospice care, through four Arizona-based companies.
- “Thank you to Matthew Galeotti and the Justice Department’s criminal division. If these young adults are found guilty of stealing from the elderly, who are just trying to live within the guidelines of our Medicare parameters, they should be punished not with just taking away the stolen money but also to do physical labor to repay their debt to society and be stripped of any government health care assistance forever.” — JAG, Sun City; via email
