Woman hit by car, killed while crossing the street in south Phoenix

PHOENIX — A female pedestrian is dead after being struck by a car while crossing the street on Monday evening in south Phoenix, authorities said.

Police responded to the area of Southern and 19th avenues around 8:10 p.m. and discovered 79-year-old Carrie McGlory with “critical injuries,” according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Paramedics took McGlory to a nearby hospital where she died.
