MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — What’s meant to be a sacred and serene place of remembrance has become a source of frustration and heartbreak for some families who have loved ones buried at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Mesa.
Kayla Cariveau, who lost her baby girl in 2016, says the resting place she chose for her daughter has become anything but peaceful. “It just feels so disrespectful. Almost like a slap in the face to all of us,” Cariveau said.
After choosing the cemetery as her daughter’s final resting place, Cariveau says she began noticing a troubling decline in maintenance. From sunken graves to uneven ground, she says the conditions have only worsened over the years.
“Throughout the years, the grounds have been kind of icky. They’ve never been great,” Cariveau added. “The ground is so uneven to the extreme.”…
