Man Dies in Fiery Collision on Loop 202 in Mesa as Investigation Underway

A tragic scene unfolded on the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway in Mesa on Wednesday morning as a man lost his life in a vehicle collision. The Arizona Department of Public Safety was called to the incident near Broadway Road after a Ford F-150 rammed into a concrete overpass and burst into flames, as reported by AZFamily. The fiery crash resulted in the closure of the northbound/westbound lanes, causing delays for several hours.

While the lanes were subsequently reopened around noon, the identity of the man driving the Ford F-150 has yet to be disclosed. Following the morning accident, caught after hitting the barrier bridge on fire, Mesa Fire & Medical crews also responded alongside DPS troopers. The eastbound lanes remained unaffected by the traffic closure, as FOX10 Phoenix notes.

The circumstances leading to the crash remain unknown at this time. The Arizona Department of Public Safety has not yet released any details regarding the possible causes that led to the driver careening into the bridge barrier.
