Weather advisory given for portions of East Valley as thunderstorm moves through Mesa

PHOENIX — The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a special weather statement for portions of the East Valley on Tuesday afternoon.

NWS put out the advisory for Mesa and Gilbert regarding 40 mph winds just after 4 p.m. and advised Arizonans to “seek shelter in a sturdy structure.” The advisory is expected to be in place until 4:45 p.m.

Not long after, the weather service posted about a strong thunderstorm making its way through portions of Mesa and told residents to prepare for gusts in excess of 40 mph and brief heavy downpours…
