Arizona woman warns others after losing nearly $50K in jury scam

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Valley woman is speaking out after falling victim to a scam that cost her nearly $50,000.

Kristine, who asked that her last name not be used, says she received a phone call on the afternoon of July 7 that changed everything.

The man on the other end of the line identified himself as Lieutenant Mark Newman, a supposed police officer, and told her she had missed jury duty. “They said I was being charged with failure to appear in court and contempt of court,” Kristine said…
