Father, son accused of attacking federal agents during arrest in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A father and son were charged after they attacked four federal agents during an immigration arrest on Monday but the father said he didn’t know they were law enforcement, federal documents stated.

According to the FBI, federal agents were looking into Santos Mendivil Contreras, Jr., who tried to buy guns two separate times in April but was denied because his visa expired in December 2022, so he was in the U.S. illegally.

Homeland Security Investigations special agents went to house on Cave Creek Road (no other crossroad was given) and tried talking to Contreras, but he shut the door on agents earlier this month, court paperwork said. The same agents tried again, but no one answered the door…
