Not all East Valley hospitals get high marks from watchdog

When it comes to safeguarding patients against infections and surgical mishaps, the East Valley has several hospitals that received the highest grade and three that got adequate marks from a nonprofit watchdog.

The Leapfrog Group releases the hospital safety grades A-F twice a year – in May and November.

It uses up to 30 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and other data sources to come up with a single letter grade representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections…
