The City of Mesa received two claims totaling $15 million for injuries blamed on its roadways.
In the first, a 72-year-old motorcyclist claims that a poorly maintained roadway and non-working streetlights led to his crash and serious injuries and wants Mesa to pay up.
Herbert “Rick” Shields filed a $10 million claim June 2. The city has 60 days to settle or reject it, which then opens the door for a lawsuit. Mesa declined comment, citing pending litigation. Shield’s attorneys also did not respond to emailed questions…
