Yelp recently named a northern Arizona hole-in-the-wall joint the best fried chicken restaurant in the state. We wanted to see if readers agreed, so we launched the Finest Fried Chicken poll. The poll pitted 10 iconic spots against each other in a battle that was competitive up until the very end, when CC’s on Central was ultimately declared the winner.
Mother-son duo Sharon and Devan Cunningham opened the restaurant on Central Avenue in 2023. After just two years in midtown Phoenix, CC’s has become a fan favorite, landing on The Arizona Republic’s 100 essential restaurants list in 2025.
“It’s always an honor,” Sharon told The Republic. “I knew it was Lo-Lo’s in there and Mrs. White’s. And for me, when I think about it, those are staples. They’ve been in Phoenix forever, so to even be ranked with them, it’s an honor and a privilege.”…
