CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — Many students are heading back to school this week, presenting some challenges for educators looking to keep kids safe in the extreme heat.
Most school districts in the Phoenix metro area have heat plans in place that outline the precautions to be taken when temperatures soar above 110 degrees.
Christine Bromley, the director of health services for the Chandler Unified School District, said that the Arizona Department of Health Services releases a daily heat index, which identifies the health risks associated with rising temperatures.
