Prison sentence issued for 2006 deaths of 2 people in south Phoenix

PHOENIX — Two defendants have been convicted for their involvement in a robbery that resulted in the deaths of two people at a south Phoenix residence nearly two decades ago.

Clarissa Saunders, 33, and Rahmon Brown, 27, were shot to death on Aug. 13, 2006 after two armed robbers broke into a residence near 24th Street and Roeser Road, according to Phoenix police.

The case went unsolved for many years until Phoenix police arrested Johnny Maxwell and Johnny Herron in 2024…
