Richard Baptiste and Anicia Woods, the couple charged with the death of 10-year-old Rebekah Baptiste, stood before the judge once more. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, they’re facing charges of first-degree murder, child abuse, and child molestation. During their court appearance, they showed no visible emotion, prompting an atmosphere as somber and rigid as the shackles that bound them.
It’s been reported by WDBJ7 that graphic photos introduced in court depicted the severe injuries sustained by Rebekah. Deputy Kole Soderquist, serving as the lead case agent, shared disturbing testimonials of the living conditions in the family’s yurt-style tent. Covered with animal feces and trash, the space bore witness to the alleged abuse, with Rebekah forced to sleep on a mere chair cushion on the floor as punishment.
In stark contrast, the court also saw images of Rebekah’s bruised body at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, evidence the prosecutors presented as torture.
