Three Arizona residents were killed Monday evening at 6:35 one mile west of Vega on Interstate 40. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2024 Volvo Truck Tractor towing a trailer driven by 56-year-old Abdinur Hassan of Columbus, Ohio was traveling eastbound on I-40, while a 2022 Honda Pilot was westbound. Hassan failed to maintain a single lane and veered over onto the improved shoulder and struck the back of a 2023 Freightliner, which was parked on the shoulder and unoccupied.
