Petition: Arizona Must Act as Climate Change Fuels Deadly Dust Storms

Phoenix was recently hit by a terrifying “haboob”—a massive wall of dust thousands of feet tall and miles wide, with wind gusts reaching 70 mph. The storm tore down trees, destroyed power lines, grounded flights, and left 60,000 households without electricity. Even a connector bridge at the airport was ripped apart.

These disasters are getting worse with Climate change. Rising temperatures and prolonged drought create the perfect storm: barren land, stronger winds, and more destructive weather. Arizona is also facing record-breaking heat waves, putting people, infrastructure, and even wildlife at risk.
