PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A new Arizona law will hold dog owners accountable when their dogs bite. The bite and run law is meant to prevent stories like one in Gilbert, where a boy was attacked by a dog, and the owner ran off.
“He jumped on me and I was trying to push him away but he kept hanging on to me and I couldn’t do anything,” said then 9-year-old Matthew Richardson after a February 2023 attack at Crossroads Dog Park in Gilbert.
The boy was rushed to the hospital with cuts and puncture wounds from a dog attack at the park. For his family, one of the most painful parts was that the owner ran and never came back…
