Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision on U.S. 60 Near Mesa Disrupts Early Morning Traffic

Early Tuesday morning, a white passenger car rear-ended a semi-truck on the U.S. 60 eastbound, resulting in a deadly sequence of events. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that the crash took place around 2:30 a.m. near Lindsay Road. The impact forced the semi-truck, which was believed to be hauling fuel, to move to the side. The halted passenger car was subsequently struck by two other vehicles.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the initial collision was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died, as per AZFamily. Following the tragic episode, disrupted commuters found the eastbound lanes closed for several hours between Lindsay Road and Val Vista Drive, which did not reopen until roughly 7:45 a.m.

One other casualty of the accident was reported to have sustained minor injuries. The freeway was cleared several hours after the incident, and traffic flow on both eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 60 returned to normal.
