Town of Gilbert responds to concerns over soaring water bills

GILBERT, Ariz. — The Town of Gilbert is responding to a wave of complaints from residents who say their water bills have suddenly spiked — in some cases, climbing by hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

Dozens of residents have contacted town officials in recent weeks, worried that billing errors or faulty meters are to blame. Public Works Director Jessica Marlow and Water Conservation Coordinator Jeremiah Churchhill said they’ve been fielding calls, but insist there’s no widespread system failure or anything nefarious going on.
