411 arrests made in Arizona during FBI’s ‘Summer Heat’ operation

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The FBI’s Phoenix Field Office said Thursday that it arrested 411 people in recent months as the feds focus on tackling violent crime and finding dangerous fugitives across the country.

According to federal officials, all 56 FBI field offices across the U.S. participated in the “Summer Heat” initiative, which they said was to conduct warrants for wanted criminals, dismantle violent gangs and identify and save child victims.

While most of the arrests were of fugitives, gang members and those wanted for crimes in Indian Country, 15 were arrested for violent crimes against children, and 103 children were saved, the feds said. Agents also seized 59 weapons and conducted 63 drug seizures.

“Crushing violent crime remains a top priority for FBI Phoenix and is a responsibility we all share,” said FBI Phoenix Special Agent in Charge Heith Janke. “The FBI will continue to work with our partners and deploy all resources necessary to strengthen the safety in our neighborhoods and reduce violent crime.”…
